Can I use my medical and dental insurance or medicare for dental implants?

Chicago Implant Studio has an experienced insurance team that will be your advocate and goes above and beyond to get the maximum coverage from your dental and medical insurances for dental implants.
For further help, you can talk to our insurance team to see how much you will receive from your specific dental insurance toward your dental implants .

Short answer is “yes, some dental insurance cover the cost of dental implants”

Although some dental insurance cover the cost of dental implants, it is important to know the following facts about your dental insurance reimbursement for dental implants:

  1. Amount of insurance coverage for implants depends on your dental insurance policy that is set up by your employer. Some employers will provide extra coverage for dental implants at the time of policy setup.
  2. Dental insurances have annual maximum benefit coverage, which is the maximum amount of money they will pay for the dental services per year, that ranges between $1000-$2000 for the majority of dental plans. For the same reason, the maximum amount that we expect to receive from dental insurance will be $1000-$2000.

When it comes to medical insurance coverage for dental implants, the most important thing is if you can show and prove to the insurance company there is a medical necessity for the proposed dental implants treatment. Dr. Danesh and his experienced medical insurance team will submit different forms and narratives to provide sufficient evidence for the medical necessity of the proposed treatment to minimize your copayment for the procedure.

Our insurance team can help you to easily get reimbursed for your maximum dental insurance coverage toward your implant cost.

You will not get any dental implant coverage by Original Medicare plans (Medicare Parts A and B). The only Medicare plan that has some dental coverage is Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C); however, dental implant coverage by Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C) is very complicated and unpredictable and in most cases Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C) pays nothing or minimum amount toward the cost of dental implants.

What does dental implants procedure involve?

Dr. Danesh has treated hundreds of patients in need of dental implants and watches closely what are their main questions and concerns about the implant procedure and summarizes them below.

One of the most frequently asked questions for the patients is “how painful are dental implants?” or “Does a dental implant procedure hurt?”

Most people over think about the dental implants procedure due to the fact that it involves surgery; which leads to fear and extra anxiety. The reality is dental implants procedures are not painful and in most cases many dental implant patients who’ve undergone root canal experienced less discomfort with dental implants.

Dr. Danesh has a very high success rate (97%) and longevity with dental implants and for the same reason he always guarantees his works for the patients.

The implant procedure involves 2 main steps:

1- Place the dental implant inside the jaw bone and wait for it to heal for 4 to 6 months. In this period of time, dental implant anchors and fuses to the jaw bone and becomes part of your body.

2- After 4 to 6 months, the patient is ready to receive the implant crown or cap.

Dental implants are standard of care for replacing the missing teeth or hopeless teeth that can not be saved. It means they are the best tooth replacement option and with proper care and regular maintenance and cleanings, they can last more than 25 years.

Your implant teeth are gonna be with you for the rest of your life helping you smile confidently and chew food comfortably. Per day cost of what the implant benefit is on a daily basis, simply make dental implants the best investment of your life.

One of the main questions, especially for patients with anxiety, is “Should I be put to sleep for dental implants?” The answer to this question depends mainly on patient preference and comfort during the procedure. Dental implant surgery can be done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. In both options the patient won’t feel any pain but the main difference is patients who undergo sedation for dental implants won’t have any recollection of the procedure.

Dental implant procedure may take from less than 30 minutes for single tooth implant to upto 2-3 for full mouth dental implants ( All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implants).

Things to know about dental implants before getting the procedure done
Parts of dental implants
Dental implants are like natural teeth and have two parts: root portion and crown (cap). The root portion of dental implants are made of medical titanium that is placed into jaw bone and the crown will be connected to the root portion by a connector that is called abutment.

You lost one tooth due to accident, gum disease, or severe cavity. You can replace that tooth with 1 naturally looking dental implant that can not be differentiated from your adjacent teeth.

If you are missing more than one tooth, you can have implants without compromising the adjacent teeth health. In some cases, you may get better results by full mouth implants and also save a lot of money and time.
This is the case where most or all of the teeth can not be saved, so the best option would be a full set of teeth which are also called All on 4/ All on 6 implants. A surgeon will place multiple implants and you will leave the office with a fix (non-removable) naturally looking full set of teeth that work like natural teeth.
